Crafting Roots

My mother taught me at an early age that idle hands are the devil's playground. In fact, I remember learning to sew on a sewing machine before the age of 5. Mom would draw dotted lines on a piece of paper and I would then sew over those lines until I graduated to working with fabric. I have always loved the time spent making things and the instant gratification upon seeing the finished product. As I grew, I stayed interested in learning new crafts and was lucky enough to have a crafty mother, a talented seamstress for a grandmother, and to be involved in various classes that taught me many different skills. Throughout the years, life got busy, dance became my trade, and school took over but no matter how much I felt like I was drowning in life, I could always break out the craft supplies, unwind, and regroup my thoughts. Now that I've graduated college and started teaching dance I have more time to dip into my creative spirits and break out those rusty skills.
